Adventure 67: LeanStartup Conference 2013 Livestream

The Lean Startup Conference held in San Francisco was simulcast all over the world, even here in Salt Lake City. The SLCC Miller campus hosted the local broadcast. It started Monday at 10:00 AM, and ran through today.

They have an entrepreneur department here at the Miller Campus, that strangely enough looks a lot like a floor from a corporation.

The hosts of the event were The Lean Startup founder, Eric Reis, and social media mogul, Sarah Milstein.

This moment captured was Eric asking everyone to take a picture of their view of the event, then tweet it. Most of us participated.

The speakers gave short 10 to 25 minute presentations. They ranged from small business entreprenuers like Robin Chase of Buzzcar, to Steven Hodas of NYC schools, to reps from large corporations like Toyota and LinkedIn.

A few items from my notes:
  • Think of consumers as peers
  • As soon as you become successful, you start believing things that aren't true
  • A group of humans working in conditions of uncertainty, produces conditions of fear
  • Don't follow your passion, create a sustainable practice
